Istanbul Airport (IST) has left-luggage offices and electronic luggage lockers. Turkish Airlines’ official airport FAQ describes two staffed offices in the Meeters and Greeters Hall on the Arrivals level, and lockers in the Departures-level check-in area. Confirm the current location, tariff and opening arrangements with the airport before relying on storage for a connection.

A staffed desk and a locker may have different rules. Check that your suitcase fits the option you choose and ask how a charge is calculated if your collection crosses into another billing period. Keep the collection receipt or access instructions available.
Can you reach storage during a layover?
Distinguish a service inside the public terminal area from something you can access while staying in the international transfer area. If reaching your chosen facility requires entering Türkiye, confirm your entry eligibility first. Do not assume an airside connection gives access to every airport service.

Will you need to collect your checked baggage?
Ask your airline or check-in staff about the baggage arrangement for your actual ticket. A bag checked through to the next destination is different from a suitcase you must collect and recheck on separate tickets. The baggage tag and airline instructions matter more than a general description of your layover.
Before leaving the airport, confirm where your bags are, whether you need them for customs or another check-in, and when the next airline’s baggage desk closes. Keep the documents you need for the onward flight with you.
What does Istanbul Airport luggage storage cost?
We are not publishing a current price table because a dated online tariff can become misleading. Ask the facility for the price for your bag’s size and intended collection time. Confirm the currency, payment methods, any additional period charge and restrictions before depositing it.
A traveler with one cabin-sized bag may have a different total from a family with several large suitcases. Compare the total for all bags and the collection arrangements, rather than just the lowest advertised rate.
Before you leave a bag
- Keep your passport, boarding information, necessary medicines and items you need during the visit with you.
- Ask about prohibited items and any restrictions for valuable or fragile belongings.
- Check how you prove ownership and what to do if a receipt or locker code is lost.
- Record the facility’s name and location so you can find the same collection point.
- Allow time for collection before onward check-in, security and boarding.
Storage before hotel check-in
If you are heading to an Istanbul hotel, ask whether it can hold your bags before your room is ready. That may fit your day better than returning to the airport to retrieve them. Confirm the hotel’s service and collection conditions directly; it should not be assumed to be included.
